Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Manipulation of the soft tissue, best for giving attention to certain painful, stiff areas in your body. Deep Tissue uses slow, deliberate strokes that focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons, or other tissues. Deep tissue massage can be therapeutic, relieve chronic tension, and help with muscle injuries. Therapy styles include: Sports Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT), and Myofascial Release Therapy:

Sports Massage: Uses a variety of techniques to help athletes before, during, or after events. It promotes flexibility, helps prevent injuries, and can help muscle strains heal after an injury.
Trigger Point Therapy: A Trigger Point is a tight area in a muscle that causes pain in another part of the body. Trigger Point Massage alleviates the source of pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. It helps manage and relieve pain and stress.
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT): A more medically-oriented form of massage therapy. Aims to treat the underlying causes of chronic pain that involve the muscular and nervous systems. It addresses trigger points, nerve compression, circulation, postural issues, and biomechanical problems that can be due to repetitive movement injuries.
Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR): A soft tissue therapy that treats skeletal muscle immobility and pain. It aims to relax the contracted muscles, stimulate the stretch reflex, and improve blood and lymphatic circulation.

Lymphatic Massage is a gentle massage intended to encourage the natural flow of the lymphatic system, carrying waste products away from the tissues back towards the heart, reducing swelling and discomfort. It uses a specific amount of pressure; less than 9 ounces per square inch (about the weight of a nickel), and rhythmic circular movements to stimulate lymph flow.
