Laura, a senior Nookster, is a Licensed Massage Therapist and a Registered Yoga Teacher. Always interested in medicine, Laura chose massage because, what may hold her back in other fields, makes her excel in this. At thirteen, Laura began losing her eyesight, becoming legally blind. At this time, she heard of the blind therapists in Asia, and became interested in practitioners of alternative medicine.
She went to the islands of Hawaii to begin the journey of learning her trade. At the Maui School of Therapeutic Massage, Laura learned from some of the best massage therapists in the U.S., including the owner of the school, James Hackett. While in Hawaii, she also attended the Hawaiian Healing Academy, studying under Kumu ("teacher") Maka'ala Yates, and learned the healing arts of Big Island Style Lomi Lomi.
Laura has continued to grow in her field. She has traveled to Chiang Mai Thailand to study the ancient bodywork of Northern Style Thai Massage (or Yoga Massage), and her most recent adventure was spent studying across Asia, where, in India, she completed her Yoga Teacher training.
Kelly is a nationally certified, and NYS licensed, professional massage therapist experienced in an array of medical conditions, ranging from amputations to vertigo. Always reading up on and researching methods, pathologies, and wellness, she strives to help you reach the level of health you desire. Kelly is trained in Acupressure, CranioSacral Therapy, Deep Tissue, Manual Lymph Drainage, Myofascial Release, Passive Stretching, and Swedish Massage. Kelly's approach to deep tissue is a gradual increase of pressure, allowing her to slowly unwind each layer of muscle. In the process, clients often feel themselves release stress with each layer and fall into a state of relaxation, as opposed to the stereotypical cringing, guarding, and pain. During a massage session, Kelly may include various modalities in order to further enhance the effects of the massage and balance the body and mind on a deeper level.
